Have a goal
Before you start taking lessons for your classical guitar, you need to have an end goal. Why are you doing this? You should have a commitment to yourself that when you start the process, you won’t stop practicing and bail out. Having said that, you need to have a realistic goal otherwise you’ll really get frustrated easily. And when your frustrated, you might quit learning and stop following the course. As an example, your goals should not be “play like santana or led zeppelin.” You need to remember that as a beginner your goals should be like play a song that has 4 chords or less.
Songs with 4 chords or less
You’ll find a lot of easy song with 4 chords or less. Go to Google, and find the songs that you like. If they have 4 chords or less, these are greate songs to practice and to be included in your goals. Start learning these songs first before you take on harder songs.
If you don’t know where to start, here’s a song with three cords: “Wild Thing” (originally by “The Troggs”). I’m sure you know this song and you’ll be surprised that you only need the A, D and E chord. Of course having the chords is just one piece of the puzzle, you need to practice and learn how to strum.
